About Kristine

Kristine is a certified Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist who teaches the Grief Recovery Method to individuals.

She helps guide people through an action-based and transformative approach to healing from life’s deepest heartbreaks. She is passionate about helping as many people navigate their individual losses so that the end result is a world that is better equipped to be empathetic with each other.

When Kristine talks about grief, she does so from a place of experience.

When she was 13, her father died after battling the effects of diabetes for many years. She experienced the very traumatic death of her husband when she was 25. He was hit by a vehicle when they were out riding their bicycles. Then at age 30, Kristine had one of her twin infant sons die. The deaths of her husband and child were especially painful because she was also grieving the future she envisioned having with them. She also knows what it’s like to have major changes happen with her health and to have a close friend and a few beloved dogs die.

Over the years, things like books and counseling have helped a lot. But it was the Grief Recovery Method that took her through some very actionable steps that ultimately has made the most profound difference in her life. She feels more free from the heavy pain of those losses and finds herself better able to love herself and others deeply.

Kristine spent 25 years as a physical therapist before transitioning to Grief Recovery Method work.

She found that so much of her success as a physical therapist was because she really listened and cared about the painful losses in a patient’s life as she was also treating their physical symptoms. Our bodies hold a lot of our grief and pain.

Kristine grew up in Wisconsin before moving out to Colorado after college. You could find her on most weekends in the mountains hiking, biking and trail running. A few of her greatest accomplishments were bicycling across the United States and running 6 marathons. Kristine currently lives in Illinois. She has two grown sons and an adorable Golden Retriever. Family, friends and her grief work bring her the greatest joy. It is her belief that one of the greatest gifts we can give each other is our time and willingness to fully listen.
